IVP Research
Experts of the IVP have been involved in many research projects after disasters, large-scale calamities and crisis in The Netherlands and abroad. An example is the Enschede Firework disaster: the Institute for Psychotrauma was one of the main partners of a large scale, longitudinal study (up to 10 years post disaster) to the psychosocial consequences and health care with victims, fire fighters, ambulance personnel and the police. In this longitudinal study there was special attention to the intercultural aspects of psychosocial consequences and mental health use.
The IVP is part of Arq Psychotrauma Research Group and Psychotrauma Foundation. IVP and Arq Psychotrauma Expert Group founded the special Chairs of Psychotraumatology at Utrecht University (prof. dr. Rolf Kleber) and the chair Psychological impact of disasters and calamities and the use of Mental Health Service at Tilburg University (prof. dr. Peter van der Velden)
